Went to Milwaukee today, and checked out a strange little neighborhood called River West. Great scene – co-ops everywhere, art studios/galleries open to visitors, and traces of a proud Polish past.

The art on show was not always of the highest caliber, but the whole thing was really more about community than connoisseurship. That’s not to say there was a shortage of interesting work, and there were some things that really stood out, such as the abstract multiple exposures by photographer Amy Schmutte. Do check them out.

After we got our fill of River West, we did the usual lakefront / 3rd Ward thing, but outside of a flying cow, it was business as usual there.
